The Pallet-flow Racking system uses gravity-driven conveyors to move pallets. Each lane contains roll tracks which requires higher quality pallets.
The main parts to this storage system are the static racks and dynamic roll tracks. The latter ones are placed on a declined along the rack and gravity is used to move pallets from one location to another.
Each lane contains brakes which controls the movement of the pallets. As a pallet is unloaded, the one behind it moves forward. The Pallet-flow rack suits FIFO (First-in First-out) inventory system since loads are moved from the loading to unloading ends. The first load in is removed first.
It is also ideal when pallets are moved from one area to another without forklift trucks in a production line. Less dependency on forklift trucks means more flexibility, lower truck maintenance cost, and less forklift damage to racks.
